Our Vision

Bernie Grant Centre Partnership (BGCP) is a company limited by guarantee and a charitable trust. It is the owner and operator of Bernie Grant Arts Centre (BGAC) which is housed in the building complex that opened in 2007.

The core objectives are to:

  • Remove barriers to participation in the arts and creative industries
  • Celebrate the creativity of a culturally diverse population locally, nationally and internationally
  • Be a catalyst for the regeneration of Tottenham
  • Attract and develop new and existing participation from all communities

The BGAC aims to be a nationally and internationally recognised centre for the development of diverse cultural and creative practitioners, which has a demonstrably positive impact on the quality of life of local communities. The vision of the centre is to make a substantial contribution to the social and economic regeneration of Tottenham.

We are also committed to being a centre of excellence in the area of training, education and learning, and arts and cultural diversity. We develop projects with partners of regional, national and international significance, and are recognised locally as being of high value to the community.

In addition, it is recognised that the creative and cultural sector still largely excludes working class, black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, particularly in positions of power and leadership roles. These factors are the context in which the BGAC works and they inform the range of training, professional development and learning opportunities. The programmes constitute the principal activity of the BGAC and are, in the majority of cases, delivered in partnership with other organisations.

With a 274 seat auditorium, 60 seat studio/rehearsal space, café/bar, there are no competitors with BGAC in the locality and no other venue in the vicinity of Tottenham has a performing arts facility of a comparable standard. In addition, there is an enterprise unit with 19 workspaces; meeting room; shared kitchen and WCs. It has a self-contained rehearsal space with office and changing facilities.
